Planning a stress-free function

The secret to a relaxed event isn’t luck — it’s planning. Get a few fundamentals right early on, and the day itself almost runs itself. Here’s the approach we use for every function.

Start with numbers and budget

Knowing roughly how many guests you’re expecting, and what you’d like to spend, shapes everything else. It’s far easier to plan a menu once those two things are clear.

Lock in the menu early

Choose dishes that suit the time of day, the venue and the crowd. Confirm numbers a little ahead of time so the kitchen can prepare — and build in a small buffer for extras.

Plan the flow, not just the food

Where will guests arrive, where will they eat, and how will food be served? Thinking through the flow of the day avoids long queues and awkward bottlenecks.

Delegate the kitchen

The host’s job is to enjoy their own event. Handing catering and service to a team you trust is the single biggest thing that turns a stressful day into a relaxed one.

Whether it’s ten guests or a hundred, good planning makes it look effortless. That’s exactly what Chef Jade Catering is here for.
